After spending a month volunteering at schools, daycare centres and orphanages in Ghana, I noticed one similarity – despite an impoverished background, all the children had smiles across their faces.
The beach has always been a place of recluse for me; a place of peace and serenity. I grew up on the sandy shores of New York beaches and my love for the ocean never waned. Whenever I am not near the sea I feel an invisible force pulling me back to it. Whether I realise it or not, I always find myself returning to the place that helped shape me and mold me into the person I am today. The ocean will always be a part of me; it is there that I feel whole and complete.
